God does not love you because you are a good boy. But, because He loves you, your desire is to grow more and more into His likeness. This is the mystery of Grace. A transformative force that makes beauty – not through fear of judgement and exclusion - but by gloriously including us, without exception.
Nineteen men stood in solidarity at Bontebok Ridge this past week. Together we leapt from the edge of the rushing falls into the deep, crystal pools below. We found the healing waters we so desperately longed for, awakening boyhood dreams and a sense of wonder, long forgotten. Wounded warriors were reminded that they are still warriors (thanks Deon), and the impostor which we had constructed over half a lifetime made room for The Original You.
I was honoured to stand among you all and to experience the searing authenticity and vulnerability which is wielded only by the brave.
Thank you Don for looking after us; thank you Anthony for leaving George at 4am to share your gift with us, and thank you to the intercessory team who prayed from all corners of the globe. Our gratitude also goes to Chris for leading us deeper and to every man who contributed. Above all, thank you, Father, for the camaraderie we experienced amidst your beautiful presence with us.
